Needleless Showcases Advanced Manufacturing Capacity, Partnering with Inventec to Drive AI-Enabled Smart Infusion System Deployment at Chi Mei Hospital

In a major step toward advancing digital transformation in clinical care, Needleless Corporation, a leading Taiwanese manufacturer of medical infusion consumables, announced its collaboration with Inventec Corporation to support the large-scale implementation of the SmartMed Infusion System at Chi Mei Medical Center. The project includes the deployment of more than 1,000 smart infusion pumps across Chi Mei’s three campuses—Yongkang, Liouying, and Chiali—marking the first hospital network in southern Taiwan to achieve a fully integrated, closed-loop medication administration system.

Robust Manufacturing Capabilities Supporting Nationwide Smart Infusion Expansion

As the core manufacturing partner of the SmartMed Infusion System, Needleless has long specialized in high-quality infusion technologies, operating automated production lines under a stringent ISO 13485 quality management system. The smart infusion kits, connection tubing, and safety locking interfaces required for this deployment were all designed and manufactured by Needleless, with ongoing optimization based on clinical feedback to ensure reliability and patient safety throughout the system.

Needleless emphasized that the success of smart healthcare depends not only on AI algorithms and digital integration, but also on the reliability of physical components. Through comprehensive quality traceability and ethylene oxide (EO) sterilization control, the company ensures that every batch of consumables meets international medical device standards—forming a solid foundation for AI-enabled medical systems.

Deep Collaboration: Advancing AI and Infusion Consumables in Sync

Inventec’s SmartMed Infusion System interfaces directly with hospital HIS systems, verifying patient wristbands and medication orders to minimize medication errors. Real-time infusion status and alerts are synchronized back to the nursing system, establishing a complete closed-loop medication record. From the early design phase, Needleless and Inventec jointly optimized hardware-software integration—covering connection interfaces, flow-sensing accuracy, and safety valve design—to achieve seamless synergy between AI intelligence and physical infusion precision.

A spokesperson from Needleless’ noted:

“AI-driven smart healthcare relies on the precise control of physical infusion flow. Without synchronized development between AI systems and infusion consumables, true closed-loop safety cannot be achieved. Our collaboration with Inventec ensures that hardware design evolves alongside AI algorithms, allowing both to advance in harmony.”

Chi Mei Hospital Sets a New Benchmark for Smart Medication Safety

With Inventec providing comprehensive training and on-site technical support, Chi Mei Hospital successfully integrated the SmartMed Infusion System into daily clinical operations. The hospital reported significant improvements in medication safety, nursing efficiency, and data accuracy, underscoring the system’s impact on smart healthcare delivery and patient-centered care.

Conclusion: Building the Hardware Foundation for AI-Driven Healthcare

As AI continues to shape the future of medical technology, Needleless remains committed to enhancing its R&D capacity for smart infusion consumables and deepening cross-sector collaborations with system integrators and healthcare institutions.
The Chi Mei Hospital implementation not only demonstrates the maturity of Taiwan’s smart healthcare ecosystem but also reinforces Needleless’ leadership in quality manufacturing, clinical insight, and integrated innovation.
